Considering the X-Stand Deluxe Hunting Climbing Tree Stand? Well you’ve come to the right place my friend because this is my unbiased review. Before we get in deep, I’m going to give you a thrilling (but brief) history lesson.

Since rifles (or shotguns if you are a duck enthusiast) were invented, hunters have made use of certain tactics in order to competitively shoot game. Back in this day, tree stand use was very ordinary at best. The “top of the line” tree stand literally consisted of several planks of wood positioned on a couple of strong branches, and maybe a few extra tacked to the trunk for steps.

Ok so this may be a big call but in the 1970’s we experienced what I will call a tree stand revolution. Yep, a revolution. We started to get smarter. Tree stand use was beginning to take off with hunters and upgraded versions of the tree stand were made available to the market. Tree stands were popping up everywhere all the way from Texas to North Dakota. Looking back now we realize early tree stands were heavy and unwieldy. Primitive by nature. However, what we can’t deny is the wood planks were actually pretty damn effective and to this day the rudimentary design can still be seen on some modern tree stands.

Due to advancements in technology, new designs have been appeared and lighter materials used. Comfort is a top priority (probably as more and more people are used to sitting in their office chairs all day). As a result we now have a variety of tree stand types available on the market today. One of which is the climbing tree stand which is the subject of very this review. In particular, we are going to discuss a personal favorite of the authors. Say hello to the X-Stand Deluxe Hunting Climbing Tree Stand.

Advantages of X-Stand Deluxe Hunting Climbing Tree Stand

Climbing tree stands generally do not include a ladder. That’s why it’s called a climbing tree stand. Yes that’s right, you can expect to shimmy your way up a tree trunk when setting this guy up. This model of climbing tree stand by X-Stand is no different and as such does not include a ladder. It’s incredibly lightweight, you can carry it by yourself. But don’t let its light weight fool you, it’s hard wearing enough that it can accommodate even the heaviest of hunters.

Like most tree stands, the climbing tree stand or climber has a seat and a resting spot for the feet while users wait for game. Feet comfort is important. Believe me.

Silence is a virtue

Many hunters consider the climbing tree stands quieter than the other beefier models. Silence is a virtue when hunting. Because of this, using a climbing tree stand such as the model by X-stand, hunters have a lot more versatility when hunting. Hunters can do their business regardless of the time of day. Most climbing tree stands can be folded up so carrying them is a breeze. You can take them from your vehicle to your choice hunting spot with minimal effort. No broken backs.

The X-Stand Deluxe is a solid piece of work with its sturdy aluminium structure. It will not easily succumb to rusting and corrosion and can last for an extended period of time (unless you do something silly like store it at the bottom of the ocean – not recommended).

This tree stand weighs a mere 15 pounds making it one of the lightest models around. It is the same weight is about 2 and a half bricks. It can be collapsed and folded flat to store away quickly and efficiently after use leaving more time for hunting. Less time folding.

But wait, there’s more!

The X-Stand Deluxe hunting climbing Tree Stand comes with an integrated backpack for effortless transportation. Effortless. Both the seat bar and arm rest of the stand are cushioned, lightweight and offer extreme comfort so that users can sit and wait for a longer time without straining themselves.

The seat is adjustable and if you don’t need to use it you can just push the seat to the rear. The seat will slide without making noise when adjusted so it will not alert the game of your presence.

When it comes to weight, the X-Stand deluxe can accommodate up to 300 pounds. This allows you, the hunter, to sit with your gear up a tree. The X-Stand Deluxe is a strong and hard wearing stand that is stable when propped against a tree. It does not give an impression of being wobbly or unsound.

The stand has a rubber coating on its parts to reduce noise when hunters move around in the stand. The platform has plenty of leg room so users can get creative with different positions for shooting game.

Disadvantages of X-Stand Deluxe Hunting Climbing Tree Stand

The X-Stand Deluxe has its benefits but it also displayed some setbacks. For one, the instructions were pretty poorly printed to be honest. I struggled to understand what they were showing me and I have set up a lot of tree stands. Luckily there are better options, there are video tutorials and customer service are actually pretty helpful.  Once you understand the workings of the stand, setting it up will be a breeze.

Second setback. While super handy, the safety harness and shoulder straps were not that comfortable. In case you are after comfort when it comes to straps and harnesses, you should go after a product with better quality. The stand was designed to accommodate the spring-loaded pin method which will put off hunters that are not into this technique. I myself prefer the spring-loaded pin method.

The verdict

The X-Stand Deluxe Hunting Climbing Tree Stand’s functionality and build excels so it makes for a good purchase. However, if you do not mind the additional purchase of a better harness and set of straps for those with sensitive shoulders, you can go with this model. If you are still unsure I have just reviewed the very popular Millennium Treestands G100 Blind Chair Millennium Treestands G100 Blind Chair. Worth the read.
